Free Event. A powerful film can open our eyes. But what happens next? Following the Scottish Premiere of Materia Prima, this interactive session invites audiences, filmmakers, campaigners and community organisers to explore how documentary can move from story to action. Led by members of the film’s international impact team, the workshop will look at the thinking behind impact producing: how films build partnerships, reach the right audiences, support movements and create space for difficult but necessary conversations. Taking Materia Prima as a starting point, we’ll consider the urgent questions at the heart of the film — extraction, climate justice, Indigenous rights and the global demand for lithium — and ask how cinema can help connect these issues to real-world change. Open, practical and participatory, After the Credits is for anyone curious about how films can live beyond the screening room, and what audiences can do with the stories they carry away. Session with impact producers Marcela Lizcano and Tatiana Vila (South America) and Ben Kempas (Europe). This session follows the screening of Materia Prima. It will be held in the downstairs Activity Room at the Montrose Playhouse. The Impact Session is free and open to all, but the film screening requires a separate ticket.
